A loan of $150 helped buy cornmeal and condiments.

Rose's story

Rose D. M., born April 3, 1952, is married to Flavien De Souza. They have two children, both educated. For about 15 years she has lived in the Gbégamey neighborhood of Cotonou, Benin's economic capital, with her children. She helps her husband pay for the family's needs, thanks to her business income.

She never went to school. For about eight years she has sold food door-to-door (corn mush and sauce, fried fish). She also sells other products such as cookies, candy and soap, which she buys at Dantokpa, Benin's international trade center. She is asking for a second loan from ALIDé so as to grow her business by preparing more food for her customers.
