A loan of $450 helped buy a pig and feed for the pig.

Maria Targelia's story

María M. has been a member of the El Paraíso (The Paradise) Communal Bank for two cycles. She lives in the Cumbe parrish. It is known for its beautiful scenery, the warmth of its inhabitants, and its farming and livestock production. Our member raises pigs. She cannot do any other activity because she suffers from chronic arthritis. The arthritis is deforming her bones. However, she is very happy because, thanks to her work, she has gotten ahead. María is 46 years old, and she has been a widow for 17 years. She has two daughters, 26 and 25 years old. They are married and live independently with their families. Our member lives in a small house made of boards, and only one daughter helps her economically. The loans have helped her a great deal to feed her pigs. Now, with her new loan from the Espoir foundation, she will buy one more small pig and feed for the pig. Her goal is to keep growing in her business.
