Rose's story

Rose G. was born on 23 August 1980, and is married to Côme KOUNTE, a professional driver. The couple have three children who are all attending school. The family settled in the Bazounkpa neighborhood of Cotonou (the economic capital of Benin) approximately 5 years ago. Rose helps her husband and together, they cover the economic needs of their family. Rose only attended primary school. For the last four years, she has been selling cosmetic and hair products from her home. As a second source of income, she also sells a variety of products (liquors, couscous, soaps, sardines, vegetable oil, mayonnaise, toilet paper, sugar, rice, etc) from her home. The revenue from this activity allows Rose to live her life. She purchases her products from Dantokpa, the international market in Benin, as well as from Lomé, in Togo. Rose previously received a loan from ALIDé, and re-paid the loan on time. She is asking for a second loan in order to enlarge her store and attract more customers in order to make more profits.
