A loan of $950 helped buying electrical supplies for his hardware store.

Ousmane's story

Born on November 18, 1979 in Sikasso, Mr. S. is a married man and the father of two children. He lives with his family in Mamassoni, an outlying district of Sikasso City (3rd administrative region of the Republic of Mali). After having run several businesses unsuccessfully, he became introduced to commerce in electrical supplies and equipment seven years ago. For two years now, he has had his own hardware store located opposite the Tripano Health Center. He is much in demand by his customers (enterprises, individuals, etc.) for the quality of his products.

To satisfy his burgeoning customer base, he decided to join the micro-finance institution Soro Yiriwaso, where he has had three individual loans, which were all repaid properly. It should be noted that the third loan was even repaid in advance. This fourth loan will enable him to buy: 30 boxes of switches, 40 boxes of various bulbs, 15 spools of different wires, 45 pairs of strip lights, 20 packets of circuit breakers, etc., from Bamako, Bobo, Koumassi, and Abidjan (respectively in Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, and Cote d'Ivoire).

With this loan, he envisions making a monthly profit of 320,000 francs CFA that will be used essentially to increase his working capital, to help cover family expenses, and to pay the interest on the loan.
