A loan helped to buy cattle and increase income from animal husbandry.

Kalyzhan's story

Kalyzhan is 52 years old - he is married and has four children. He has a secondary education.

He has been engaged in animal husbandry and farming since 1991 - this is the main source of income for the family. Thanks to his hard work, the farm currently counts seven cows, thirty sheep, two horses as well as a 1.2-ha plot of land where he grows clover.

To further develop the farm, he applied for a loan of 50,000 soms (KGS) from the Bank of Bai Tushum to buy more cattle and increase the number of heads in his care. The income from the loan will help to build a house for the family.

Translated from Russian by Kiva volunteer Aleksandra Katajeva.

This loan is special because:

The borrower receives a lower interest rate to fund their agriculture activities.
