A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her maize harvests.

Philice's Group's story

Philice is 58 years old and has four children. She has been a farmer for more than 20 years and is always said to be a very experienced farmer. Even though Philice is the only one featured in the picture, she is actually representing her group of eight farmers in the Matete District, Kenya.

Philice started working alongside One Acre Fund in 2012 and decided to do so because she wanted to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds. Since then, she has seen her life improve, especially in the sense that she has been able to consistently feed her family ever since. This year she decided to represent her group because she was chosen by the team.

Philice’s group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of seven acres of land. Additionally, one of the farmers will be purchasing a solar light so, with this loan, the group will receive a solar light.
