A loan helped to buy pandanus for her weaving business.

Carmetite's story

Carmetite is a separated mother of five. She lives with her kids under her sister's roof. All her kids attend school, and her sister helps provide for her children. Together they do weaving, which is their daily routine. They weave taovala (native clothing) and mats, using white pandanus only.

Her sister normally travels overseas with their weaving and sells it there, but since the pandemic, they have had to sell it locally. They can only export some weaving overseas, and only to trusted customers.

Carmetite is joining the SPBD loan program to earn enough money to buy pandanus for their weaving.

A brighter and better future for her children is her only dream.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
