A loan of $4,475 helped a member to increase the quantity of sweet potatoes that she buys to resell to her customers.

Pendo Group's story

Patricie N. is a 47 year old merchant. She lives in the town of Rugombo in the Cibitoke province in the western part of Burundi. She has been selling sweet potatoes for three years at the Rugombo market.

Before starting this business, she was a farmer. She studied until the 4th year of primary school. She is a widow. She is currently in the 4th cycle of the community loan with Turame. She is the mother of 3 boys of which 2 go to school.

She is requesting a Kiva loan to increase the quantity of sweet potatoes that she buys to resell to her customers. With the loan from Turame, she hopes to increase her profits and save money to solve her various financial problems and buy her own house.

She acknowledges that Turame helped her at the right moment, as she worked for others in order to be able to have enough to eat. Her way of living has now improved thanks to the Turame loan.

She is one of the members of the « Pendo » community group.
