Saleh's story

Saleh is a skilled refugee entrepreneur living in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He owns and runs a grocery store within the camp.

Saleh started this business in 2014 from his savings. To date, he has been able to considerably grow the business over the years.

Saleh's store is located in a busy spot within the camp and attracts a good number of customers daily. The business realizes relatively good returns, as the items sold are fast-moving. He has employed three staff who help with the operations.

Saleh actively participated in AEC’s business training program focused on financial management and increasing sales for micro-businesses at the camp. He was able to successfully apply the skills learned in managing his business, which now boasts improved cashflow and efficiency. A loan to Saleh will allow him to expand his operations by adding to his inventory for food items. This will ensure that he stays serving the community with more consumption options, while also growing his business.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees launch businesses to rebuild their lives.
