Foi Plus Group's story

Monique Katinga, 45, is the manager of the Community Bank named “Foi Plus” which means “Faith” in English. It is composed of 20 members united in solidarity to receive Kiva loans with the goal of developing their businesses.



Monique has been part of the micro-enterprise world since 2005, when she began her business selling used clothing. Her business has prospered thanks to accumulated profit and good management, generating a profit of $40 per week, and her next loan will be used to buy spices in bulk to resell retail with the goal of increasing her profits. Monique’s ambition is to open a general store.



She is a married mother of nine children between the ages 6 and 27, seven of whom attend school.
