A loan helped to buy additional poultry of quality breeds, so as to meet the overwhelming demand for eggs and poultry products in her area.

Clara's story

Clara is a 46-year-old single mom. She is a fighter and a hardworking, honest, and responsible mother, who has always enjoyed working independently.

Clara is from a remote village in the area of Kericho, Kenya. She has been actively involved in farming for the past few years, and she has never regretted this or looked back. She practices mixed farming and sells milk and various food crops at the local market.

Clara passionately loves poultry farming, but the biggest challenge she faces is a lack of capital to buy quality breeds of poultry that are resistant to diseases and that lay more eggs.

Clara is requesting a loan to purchase additional poultry. She will use her excess maize to feed the poultry, and she will provide the poultry with sorghum to give them energy and green grams (beans) for protein.

Clara will be able to save money that would have been spent to buy fertilizer.
