Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,000 helped computers and to set up his stand.

Mario Arturo's story

Mario is 41 and lives in the Guasmo de Guayaquil (a built-up area where most of the residents are lower class). He began working with a computer cafe after the business where he worked was liquidated.

With effort and dedication he was able to buy computers and a booth in a stand. From that time on he has had his Cyber business which is the main economic support for his family. He works from 7 am to 7 pm every day. With the loan he would like to fix up the stand and to buy a computer for it.

In the future he wants his own house and to have a greater number of customers.
