'Amelia's story

Amelia is 54 years old. She is married with six grown up children and lives with her three youngest.

'Amelia joins a group of women in their village, where they make traditional tapa cloth once in a week and spend three other days of the week weaving together. Together they make tapas, then divide it among them for personal way of designing. With the weaving, they weave together in the same hall where they conduct their tapa making. They weave mats, fihu, and taovala, but with white pandanus only.

'Amelia has been in this business for more than ten years, and she witness the benefits her family receive from this business. She applies for a loan to buy pandanus and mulberry for their business and also help with expanding their house.
