Catalina's story

Catalina is a simple and hardworking 42 year old woman, who lives in her own home with her 52 year old husband, Victorino and their 5 children. She loves her children very much and hopes to give them a better quality of life.

From a young age Catalina learned to work on the farm alongside her parents, who showed her everything that needed to be done to have a successful harvest. Now she has her own land that she cultivates and tends to with love and patience. She plants peas, potatoes, olluco [a root vegetable] and barley which she sells at the wholesale market in Tarma. What she enjoys most about her work is harvesting her crops, since that is when she is rewarded for all her effort. She has been doing this for 20 years and says that the hardest part of tending to her crops are the potential plagues. Her wish is to buy more land so she can expand her production.

This is her sixth loan with MFP and she knows and is willing to make he payments on time. Within her community group she is know for being a good a good partner who is always happy and in a good mood at meetings. With the two thousand Nuevos Soles she is requesting she will buy fertilizer for her lands so that she will have a bountiful harvest.
