Lucerito Group's story

This is the Lucerito group, made up of 10 women looking to better themselves and succeed. In this group every member makes her own decisions since they are all comfortable being a part of Lucerito. The are from the San Miguel Xico 3ra Seccion neighborhood of Valle de Chalco, State of Mexico. This group is in their third cycle and hope to remain in Fundacion Realidad since the support has been helpful to them.

Group member Angela D. O. is 74, widowed 6 yeas ago, and has four married children. She started working from a very young age as her parents were unable to give her the chance to study since she had to care for her other siblings. She started out with a small store where her husband helped out, though she had to close the store when she was widowed since she didn't have help stocking the store. Some time later she began selling dried chilies, plantain leaves, cinnamon, nuts and others since this is a relatively low intensity activity. Angela opens at 10 in the morning and closes at 4 pm so that she can deliver her orders to her neighbors in the area. Angela would like to re-open her store and hire someone to help with sales.

With this loan she hopes to buy plantain and corn leaves for tamales, since this is the time of year they sell best, and also be able to buy top quality product to improve her customer base.
