A loan of $2,500 helped a member diversifying her business by buying some sacks of manioc to make shikwanges and resell them at profit.

Puit De Jacob Plus Group's story

Espé M., age 30 and unmarried, is the president of the Community Bank “Puit de Jacob Plus,” which is composed of 21 members united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through IMF HOPE RDC with the goal of developing their businesses.

Espé started her business in 2000. She sells fresh and salted fish at the market located east of the city of Kinshasa. She is a loyal client of IMF HOPE RDC who has already received six different loans and has repaid them properly. She intends to use the next loan to diversify her business by purchasing some sacks of manioc to make shikwanges, which are a main food in Kinshasa, and resell them with the aim of increasing her profits. Each week, her business brings in a profit of $50.

Her ambition is to open a cold storage facility.
