A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Rose's Group's story

Rose, pictured above, has been a farmer for 18 years, and is now proud to represent her group of nine farmers in Alego District. She is 40 years old, married and has four children.

Rose likes to think of herself as a very reliable person. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2018 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to help more farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has been able to consistently feed her family. Rose plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Rose’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate six acres of land. Given that one member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of one solar light.

In this group: Rose, Jane, Monicah, Magret, David, Michael, Monica, John, Jackline

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
