A loan helped to buy construction and gardening tools for her small hardware store so that she can better provide for her customers.

Fancy's story

Fancy lives in an off-shore island located not far from Efate. Her community is very small, and the main industries are fishing and agriculture. Life in a rural district is easy but making a living is now hard due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Fancy is 36 years old and has a partner who is self employed. She has three children who are 7, 6, and 3 years old. She lives with her partner and children in their own home.

Fancy has requested a loan to buy construction and gardening tools to stock her small hardware store so that she can better meet growing customer demand. This will help increase her income, which she will save in order to pay for a vehicle and a boat that can help her in her business.

This is Fancy's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has faithfully repaid her previous loans on time. Thanks to these loans, she feels empowered to expand her business so she can become a more successful businesswoman.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
