Catarina Daniel's story

Catarina Daniel C. was born in the district of Boane, Maputo province, in the south of Mozambique. She is married and is the mother of three children aged 12, 7, and 3. The two older children go to school. She finished tenth grade, but didn't continue in school due to a lack of finances. She lives in her own house with her family and supports her nieces and nephews who live with her. Catarina never left her home town. She has her own business, and has owned it for more than six years, selling about 25 meals a day. She does not have employees, and earns an income of about 4,000 MT a month, which she uses for household expenses and still saves some in her bank account. She has never had loans from other banks, getting to know about Hluvuku through friends who are also clients of this institution. This is her third loan, in the amount of 15,000 MT, with which she plans to purchase construction materials (cement, stone, iron, sand, and other items) in order to continue the construction of her residence. The previous loans were for 5,000 and 10,000 MT for housing and goods. She promises to duly repay this loan in order to be able to receive others. In the future, she intends to request more loans in order to finish off and furnish her house, offering better living conditions for her family.
