A loan of $750 helped purchase of chicken feed and vitamins.

Ana Isabel's story

Ana Isabel Manuel C. was born in the city of Matola in the Maputo province, in the south of Mozambique. She is a single mother of two children, who are 7 and 5 years old, and both attend school. She only attended through 2nd grade and did not continue due to her parents' lack of finances. She lives in her own home with her family and she does not support anyone else besides her children.

She left her birth city for Inhambane to pursue better living conditions. Ten years later, she returned to Matola. She has a business raising chickens and has done this for more than 12 years. She doesn't have any employees and earns about 5,000MT monthly, which she applies to her household expenses and still saves some to her bank account.

She has never taken out a loan with another bank. She came to know Hluvuku through her sister who had already received a loan from the institution. This is her first loan for the amount of 25,000MT, which she plans to use to purchase feed and vitamins to increase the quantity of her stock. She promises to repay this loan dutifully to be able to access others. In the future she hopes to seek more loans to expand her aviaries to fit more chickens.
