A loan helped to purchase administration stationery and retail goods for a small kitchen shop near her guesthouse reception desk which will better provide for her customers.

Seihi Margaret Rose's story

Seihi Margaret Rose is 67 years old and has five grown up children. She has been a widow since 2014, having lost her husband due to an illness. She lives in her own home with one of her sons and his family. Her home is located in an urban district which is about 10 minutes drive to Port Vila city.

Her community is one of the largest residential areas in the city, and the main industry is food and agriculture. During this Covid-19 pandemic, Vanuatu lost 70% of its employment so it has been tough for one to earn a steady income.

She has asked for a loan so she can purchase administration stationery and retail goods for her guesthouse reception area. Seihi Margaret Rose started her business back in the month of June, 1996. She wants to extend her guesthouse to have more rooms on the top floor in order to attract more customers.

With the revenue earned, she will start her own retail shop and also to build herself a permanent home as she lives currently in a small shanty-like home. This is Seihi Margaret Rose's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has successfully repaid her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Seihi Margaret Rose feels empowered to expand her business and become a successful entrepreneur.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
