Carolyne's story

Carolyne, a repeat kiva borrower, is a 31-year old mother of three children living in Kitale. Kitale is a town surrounded by prime agricultural lands that favor large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming. She is a mixed dairy-and-crop farmer who has been in this business for the past twenty years. Thanks to her desire to change her family’s reputation, Carolyne has made tremendous progress.

Carolyne is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs which she will use to improve her production and make more income for her family. Juhudi Kilimo’s partnership with kiva is an effective tool for reducing poverty in Kenya and especially among women, being the central actors in the rural areas. With a loan to Carolyne, 2021 will be an year full of opportunities for success.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
