A loan helped to set-up a canteen business from her home.

Alesi's story

Alesi is a single mother of two who lives in a community settlement with her children and mother. Every morning she prepares her children for school before she goes about to other neighborhoods looking for employment. On a good day, she can help out in three households with chores like laundry and cleaning, and on other days she finds none.

The instability of her income has caused the need for Alesi to start her own business, so she humbly seeks a loan to start a canteen from her own home. The loan will be used to purchase her canteen stocks, like canned goods, rice, flour, sugar, oil, and other things she has noticed to be fast moving in her community. She is willing to work hard for her children and mother and also to repay her loans.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
