Charity Mabon Barang's story

Charity Mabon Barang lives in a rural district located about a 15 minute drive to Port Vila city. Her community is very small, and the main industry is agriculture. During this Covid-19 pandemic, it has been difficult for one to earn a stable income. Charity Mabon Barang is 57 years of age and has one grown-up daughter. She has been separated for several years now and currently resides with her sister in their own home.

Charity Mabon Barang has requested a loan to purchase different colored dyes and dried pandanus leaves which she will use to produce beautiful handmade bags for her customers. She has been weaving all her life; she started her business in the early 1990's. She loves to weave and bringing her passion to the general public has motivated her to expand her business. With the revenue earned, she will build her own house which was damaged by cyclone Harold back on her home island, Pentecost.

This is Charity Mabon Barang's third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful in repaying her previous loans on time. She dreams of becoming a successful businesswoman.
