A loan helped a single woman borrower with good credit to buy farm inputs, to improve her productivity, and increase profits to support her children.

Rose's story

Rose (a 36-year-old single mom of 3 school-going children) is a lively and energetic smallholder female farmer.

Born in a rural village in Nyeri, Rose grew up knowing farming as the only economic activity in her area. As a young girl, she was always eager to learn from her parents, and this has had a positive impact on her life.

Rose's spirit has led her to be a successful farmer.

The biggest problem that farmers from her area face is the huge deficit in terms of access to agricultural inputs. This means these farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be.

Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Nyeri, like Rose, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Rose is seeking a loan to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farming inputs.

This intervention will help Rose fulfill the increasing demand for food in the market, generate more income to repay the loan debt, and improve the quality of life for her family.

Helping Rose through lending will help lift her family from poverty!

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
