A loan helped to purchase retail goods to stock her shop to better provide for her customers.

Anita's story

Anita lives in a rural district located about 10 minutes drive to Port Vila's international airport. Her community is very small, and the main industry is fishing and agriculture. During this Covid-19 pandemic it has been hard for one to earn a stable income. Anita is 52 years of age. She has four children, three of whom are grown up and the youngest is ready to start kindergarten this year. She has a partner who is unemployed helping her around the house. She lives with her partner and children in their own house.

Anita has requested a loan to help her purchase retail goods so she can stock up her shop to better provide for her customers. She started her shop back in 2008 and she just loves to help provide for her community's needs and wants. With the revenue earned, she will renovate her house and help pay for the youngest child's school fees.

This is Anita's fourth loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful in repaying her previous loans on time. Through her loans, Anita feels empowered to expand her business and become a successful businesswoman.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
