A loan helped to buy farming inputs to improve her production and make more income to support her family.

Jennifer's story

Jennifer is a 59-year old mother, living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–08 Kenyan crisis, when violence occurred in Kenya.

The major impediment to the development of smallholder farms in Kenya is a lack of short-term credit facilities. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is working hard to support smallholder farmers in Kenya through financing, therefore guaranteeing their survival.

Jennifer is seeking this loan to buy farming inputs to improve her production and make more income to support her family during this tough global economic recession. Jennifer is hopeful that Kiva's lenders are able and willing to support her during this time when the world is focused on combatting COVID-19.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
