A loan helped to renew her business license and buy a bag of kava to stock up her kava bar to produce certain kilos of kava juice and increase her income.

Janet's story

Janet lives in an urban area located about a 10-minute drive to Port Vila's international airport. Her community is quite large, and the main industry is food and agriculture. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been hard to earn a stable income.

Janet is 48 years of age with four children, two of whom are grown up, one is still in university and the youngest is in college. She is happily married to a commercial banker. She lives with her husband and children in their own home.

Janet has asked for a loan to help renew her kava bar business license and to purchase a bag of kava so she can stock up to produce certain kilos of kava to better provide for her customers. She wants to become one of the best kava juice sellers in her community so she can attract more customers. This will help increase her revenue, which she will use to purchase a piece of land and expand her business by building home units on it.

This is Janet's fourth Loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful in repaying her prior loans on time. Through her loans, Janet feels motivated to expand her business and become a successful entrepreneur.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
