Kalifa is the man with his hands on the ram in the photo. He is a Malian, aged 44 years, uneducated, married and the father of 8. His wife is a homemaker.

Kalifa turned to RMCR to be able to better conduct his livestock farming because in the past he has lacked funds. He makes his purchases in the neighbouring villages and resells at his local market. The profit he makes allows him to take care of specific expenses of his family, like costs for the health of his children and a variety of food. He has a good reputation in his village and is very respected.

In the future, Kalifa hopes to have a larger loan in order to buy a lot of heads of sheep to increase his profit in order to become financially independent.

Kalifa est celui qui a ses mains sur le bélier en photo, malien âgé de 44 ans non scolarisé, marié, et père de 8 enfants en charges. Sa femme est une ménagère. Kalifa a fait recours au RMCR pour pouvoir bien mener son activité élevage ovine car il était confronté au manque de fonds dans le passé. Il fait ses achats dans les villages environnants et revend dans les marchés de sa localité. Le profit qu’il gagne lui permet de prendre certaines charges de sa famille comme frais médicaux de ses enfants et les frais de condiments de son foyer. Il a une bonne réputation dans le village et très respecté. Dans l’avenir, Kalifa souhaite avoir un prêt plus élevé pour acheter beaucoup de têtes de béliers afin d’augmenter ses revenus enfin d’être autonome.

This loan is part of RMCR’s solidarity group loan program. Borrowers who have successfully completed several loan cycles with the community bank program graduate to this one and access slightly larger loans in groups of 2-9 members. Group members are mutually responsible for repayments and can access voluntary savings services. Group members can use loans for any income-generating activity. Common activities are farming, raising livestock and commerce. Terms and payment frequency can vary according to borrowers’ business cycles.
