A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer.

Anna's story

The planting season is here and Juhudi Kilimo would like to introduce Anna who is 57 years old and has children. She is from the Eldoret area of Kenya. This area lacks basic amenities such as clean water and electricity connections from the national grid. She grows crops and engages in dairy farming for commercial purposes, unlike many rural farmers who produce for subsistence purposes.

Anna requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo, which she will use to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizers, to improve her crops. The loan will enable her to improve her crop production through the use of quality farm inputs.

Anna hopes that through farming, she will be able to pull away from poverty and see to it that her children successfully complete their education. She is a visionary and is keen to ensure that she keeps on progressing in life. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, has extended its services to the remote areas in the Eldoret region of Kenya, and its staff are keen to ensure that hardworking mothers, like Anna, benefit from loans that would enable them to purchase farming inputs.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
