Tabitha's story

Meet Tabitha, a first-time Kiva borrower, who was born in a bloodline of warriors. She is a 53-year-old mother who has one child. Tabitha has been supporting her family through mixed farming for the past fifteen years. Thanks to her determination and desire for success, she has made her life meaningful.

The Covid-19 pandemic has posed a significant threat to the economy of Kenya, causing a lot of uncertainty and disrupting food supply chains. Juhudi Kilimo, in partnership with Kiva, is at the forefront in combating this pandemic through supporting smallholder farmers and micro-entrepreneurs in this difficult period.

Tabitha is seeking this loan to buy quality farming inputs so that she can improve her production, making more profit to support her family during this hard economic period. Supporting her with a loan will be key in facing the financial crisis that has been brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This loan is special because:

It finances smallholder farmers to purchase dairy cows, chickens, cereals, farm inputs and farming equipment.
