A loan of $550 helps a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve his harvest of maize.

Dickson's Group's story

Pictured above is Dickson, often described as an extremely hardworking individual. He is 60 years old and has 10 children. As a group leader, he is representing his group of 10 farmers in Mumias District, Kenya.

Dickson is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that he is able to get the best quality fertilizer and hybrid seeds, which is why he decided to join in the first place. Dickson says that he is happy to have made that decision because, since he first joined in 2017, he has been able to consistently feed his family, which has improved his day-to-day life significantly.

Dickson will use the profits from this season to send his children to school.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 6.75 acres. Given that a member of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan, the group will also receive a total of one solar light.

In this group: Dickson, Violet, Catherine, Robertson, Emily, Elizabeth, Shakila, Janet, Alfred, Patrick

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
