Elizabeth's Group's story

Elizabeth, featured in the above picture, is representing her farming group formed by 12 farmers in the Lugari District, Kenya. She is 40 years old and a married mother of 4 children, often described as a very hardworking individual.

Although Elizabeth has been a farmer for 18 years, she is new to One Acre Fund. She decided to join this year because she really wanted to have access to quality training and acquire new farming methods. Even though she is new to the program, Elizabeth wanted to represent her group because she was just proposed by the team. With the profits earned from this season’s harvest, Elizabeth hopes to be able to send her children to school.

With this loan, the group will receive farming inputs to plant a total of 9.75 acres of land. They will also receive 1 solar light, as, even though Elizabeth decided not to, a farmer in the group will be purchasing a solar light as part of their loan package.

In this group: Elizabeth, Jackson, Judith, Agness, Lenah, Monica, Margret, Gladys, David, Florence, Ezinah, Maurice

This loan is special because:

It supports smallholder farmers to purchase seeds and solar lanterns.
