A loan helped to purchase a new gas stove, cooking utensils and a juice dispenser.

Filomena's story

Filomena makes home cooked meals and sells them from her village home at Nasirotu village now to help her family get back on their feet after their home was partially destroyed by Tropical Cyclone Harold. She sells her food to government workers like teachers, road constructors, nurses and bus drivers or truck drivers who pass by her home.

Since most of the family's belongings were destroyed in the disaster, she hopes to get a loan to be able to purchase herself a new gas stove and cylinder, cooking utensils, kitchenware and a juice dispenser to aid her in her food production business. She also wishes to purchase food packaging containers, both small and large, to store her goods. The expansion of her business will also help her with the repair costs of the home, which she currently cannot afford.

This loan is special because:

It provides women with credit in a country where alternative financing is extremely scarce.
