A loan helped to buy silk thread and materials for making traditional Thai silk skirts.


Manee's story

Manee lives with her sons and daughter in a Khmer community of Surin province, Northeast Thailand. Basically, her family cultivates a small rice farm and weaves silk cloth for selling.

She has taken the Kiva loan to invest in the silk business since 2018. The loan was helpful in her business, so Manee applied once again to buy silk thread and materials for weaving traditional Thai silk skirts. Moreover, she planned to allocate the loan to buy meatballs for selling as well.

The loan will encourage her to continue and run the business smoothly. It will create another job for a woman in a rural area.
