A loan of $3,425 helped a member buy plastic and glass containers of different sizes.

La Amistad Group's story

The community bank La Amistad, in the Yka´a neighborhood in the Las Abellanas section of the city of Luque, was formed thanks to women in another group in a neighboring part of the city, who told them about the community bank program and invited them to form a new group in their area. They are working in a united form to generate more income for their families.

One of the members is Señora Elva A., who prepares different types of jams in great quantities. She buys the fruits and prepares the jams and then goes around to a number of businesses where they offer her products. In addition, she has a business where she sells toys, clothing, and household utensils. She is a very hard-working woman and provides for her children in the best way possible. She is applying for this loan to purchase containers of different sizes because she wants to package her products for better presentation and handling.

In this group: Elva, Felicita, Emilia, Obtaciana, Sandra, Maria, Clotilde, Delia, Luciana, Elida, Zulma, Maida, Nancy, Cynthia, Maria, Agustina*, Rosa*, Basilia*
