Truth Borrower Group's story

Juliana is forty-one years old. She is married and she is the mother of three children from age 2-8 years. Juliana is a hard-working trader. She sells smoked fish. Fish is widely used in cooking as one the most common sources of protein in our diet. It is mostly used in the preparation of soup and sauces. Fresh fish is partially roasted on a fire to obtain smoked fish which is more flavorful. Juliana plans to use the loan to purchase cartons of fresh fish in bulk from wholesalers to scale up her business. She has been in business for two years and hopes to expand her business to meet customers’ demand. She dreams of owning a shed in the community market and also aspires to see her children reach higher levels in education. Juliana is the leader of a trust bank group called 'Truth'. There are seven members in this group who are mostly farmers. The group has adopted the co-guarantee system to obtain the loan and uses peer pressure and assistance to one another to repay the loan.
