A loan of $850 helped to buy groceries, toiletries and beverages to replenish and maintain her current inventory.

Amelita's story

Amelita A., 48, is making sure that her family has adequate provision for their daily needs. She is married to Enrique A., a driver, and they are blessed with three children. She makes sure that she helps her husband earn so that their family can have a better life. She has been managing her own variety store for quite some time now. Amelita has been a regular member of Center for Community Transformation (CCT) for more than a year now. She regularly attends its weekly fellowship meetings* and pays her weekly dues consistently. Because of her good repayment performance with her previous loans, she was able to borrow quite a few times in CCT’s cooperative. She is consistent in paying her dues because she used the money she borrowed to expand and improve her variety store. To ensure the success of her business, Amelita would like to apply for a PHP 39,000 loan. This amount will be used as a source of added capital for her expanding business by buying groceries, toiletries and beverages to replenish and maintain her current inventory. Amelita dreams that her business will continue to grow so that she can provide for her children’s education. * All CCT community partners / clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of fifteen to thirty community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and repay micro-finance loans.
