Omar's story

Omar is 33 years old and the father of two children. He is a very simple and humble person, but has a good ability to relate to the people around him. He likes to go out fishing in his free time, and also enjoys watching soccer games on TV. He did not attend school because he chose to work in the fields to live his desired lifestyle. He inherited the profession of his father, who taught him from a young age to work the land and make it produce according to the type of crop. Also thanks to his desire to improve his quality of life, he has been diversifying his crops with beans, corn, and greens. Previously he depended more on coffee. However, climate change has required him to change strategies in order to produce crops that provide his family with a better quality o life.

He is requesting a loan from Fundenuse with Kiva funds to buy agricultural inputs. With this, he will be able to sufficiently attend to his crops, since hurricanes damaged his crops such as the corn, and even the coffee was affected. This is why receiving this type of financing is a blessing which will enable him to keep doing what he likes most, producing food for his family and consumers at the local market.
