A loan helped a member to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her maize harvest.

Jael's Group's story

Jael is pictured above. She is 52 years old and has six children. Jael is often described as an extremely experienced farmer. She is the representative of a 19-farmer loan group in Teso District, Kenya. Jael is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund as this means that she will be able to earn enough money to feed her family, which is why she decided to join in the first place. She is happy to have made this decision because, since she first joined in 2016, she has learned a lot from trainings, which have significantly improved her day-to-day life.

Jael is requesting a loan to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her maize harvest. Her loan group will collectively purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 10.5 acres. Some of the group members will also purchase solar lights and the group will receive six solar lights. Jael will use her profits from this season to send her children to school.
