A loan of $650 helped a member buy gallons of palm oil to add to her current stock.


Sorbeh Group's story

Isatu (who is pictured first row on the left) is a 35-year-old businesswoman who lives in Makeni, in northern Sierra Leone with her husband and their four children. Isatu has been selling palm oil (the country’s most popular cooking oil), for many years now.

She has requested a loan from Kiva field partner, Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), in order to purchase gallons of palm oil to add to her current stock. This is the first time that Isatu and her group members have requested a loan from SMT/Kiva lenders.
