Queta's story

Queta, age 53, lives in her own home with her husband David, age 54, and two of their three daughters; the eldest daughter is working in the city in search of better opportunities.

Five years ago, Queta started an eatery business in her home. To achieve this, she separated a part of the living room and made it into a dining hall. This is where she serves food to her demanding clients every day starting at noon. She sells each dish for 5 sols during work days and for 7 sols during the weekend.

Queta prepares her dishes with the very best ingredients she can find since she is always committed to the satisfaction of her guests; she really likes to cook and to see the enjoyment her customers get from her dishes. Queta is very selective when purchasing ingredients, and, because of this, she does not like to buy them each day, but instead buys enough to last the whole week, except for the vegetables.

While Queta manages her restaurant, her husband works as a teacher; he also helps out with the restaurant. Being an entrepreneurial woman, Queta has future plans to expand her business with dessert products.

This is Queta's eighth loan with MFP, and she is very enthusiastic about continuing to work as a member of her communal bank, where she is the president of the management committee. She plans to use the loan to renovate the front side of her house in order to make the entrance to her restaurant look more appealing; the remaining amount will be used to purchase raw ingredients for the preparation of her dishes.
