A loan of $250 helped purchase of Fertilizer for Crops.

Juanito's story

Juanito is 46 years old and lives in his own home alongside his wife Elena, 42, and three of his seven children. The rest of his children are grown. For twenty years, Juanito has farmed bananas, achiote [a small tree grown for its rust-colored seeds] and coffee on his own land. What upsets him is not having sufficient working capital to buy himself a ranch, but he loves farm work.

Juanito remembers how his father taught him all of the farming techniques that he now uses and proudly teaches them to his children so as to not lose the family tradition. For farm work, he counts on the help of his wife and children because the good profits that they receive in agriculture enable them to live comfortably and to take care of some expenses.

An entrepreneurial man, Juanito has planned to continue to plant large quantities of all of his products that grow in Peru’s Central Jungle. This is the second loan that he has with Microfinanzas Prisma and he commits to making his payments on time as he has done so far because he wishes to continue working with his community bank. Juanito has planned to invest the money from the loan to buy several sacks of fertilizer that he needs to take care of his next sowings.
