Muharram's story

K. Muharram is 44 years old. She is married with 4 children. She is a well-known seamstress in her community, seeing that she has been working there for many years. Fifteen years ago, Muharram decided to take advantage of her reputation and bought a tailoring machine and since then, she has been providing the service of a tailor. The entrepreneur says that she has now a well-established clientele, the majority of whom are young girls who often order national dresses.

In this way, Muharram constantly adds new clients and has seen her business grow. Now she is requesting a loan of US$ 800 to purchase new modern fabrics for sewing national dresses. Tajikistan is known for its rich history, which includes a key post along the Silk Road and the end of Alexander the Great's rule. While the people of Tajikistan are working to improve its agricultural production and manufacturing sector, nearly two-thirds of the population still live in abject poverty.
