Jelly's story

Jelly lives in Ajuy, Iloilo. She is 42 years old, married and has four children. To earn an income, she and her family do fishing. They have been engaged in this livelihood for many years. Aside from fishing, she also runs a small store for additional income.

Now she asks for a loan of PHP 25,000 through Kiva’s field partner, CEVI (a microfinance NGO) in the Philippines. She will use this loan to buy assorted groceries for her store. The rest will be used to buy plywood, lumber, nails, paint, and boat glue that will be used to repair their fishing boat.

Jelly wants to improve her livelihood in the future for her children’s education.
