A loan of $3,500 helped a member improve and maintain her motorbikes.

Las Palmeras Group's story

Nelly is single and has four children who have inspired her to work her whole life long and achieve what she has today. She remembers it was her brother who gave her the idea of investing in the purchase of a motorbike to provide public service. With her savings and much sacrifice she was able to purchase a first motorbike which she rents out, generating daily income in order to pay her family expenses. Currently she has four motorbikes which she herself manages and maintains.

In a completely separate venture she also sells clothing. With all of her income she has been able to help with her children’s education and see them become professionals. This year she has planned the completion of the construction of her house and regarding her business she wants to set up a moto-taxi business with her family [A moto-taxi is a motorcycle with attached trailer for passengers]. With her loan she will be able to improve and maintain her units. She belongs to the group “Las Palmeras” [The Palm Trees], a close-knit group motivated to keep working.
