A loan helped to increase her inventory of clothing items for her boutique.

Fatuma's story

Fatuma is a refugee from Somalia living at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. More than that, she is a mother of two, a wife, and a successful entrepreneur running a boutique store business at the camp.

Fatuma started the business in 2011 soon after arriving at the camp; to date, it continues to experience steady growth. It is located in the busy Ethiopian market, and hence conveniently serves a considerable number of her fellow refugees and the surrounding host community on the regular.

Fatuma actively participated in AEC’s business training program focused on financial management and increasing sales for the business. She was able to apply the skills in running the boutique, which now boasts improved cash flows and efficiency.

A loan to her will ensure she continues to serve her community with more clothing options while at the same time growing her business.

This loan is special because:

It helps refugees launch businesses to rebuild their lives.
