A loan helped to get better healthcare for her family.

Luka's story

Following Luka's initial loan request, she has been able to purchase improved inputs, and she is delighted with the prospects this holds. As a hardworking farmer, Luka has the ambition to provide her family with better healthcare from her farming profits. As a member of Babban Gona, Luka has access to enhanced farming services that help to increase her yields. Furthermore, through training programs, Luka now practices farming more sustainably. For example, the agronomy education Luka receives focuses on micro-dosing fertilizers to lessen environmental impact and increase yields. Luka expects to reap 40 bags of maize per hectare from this year's harvest, more than double the Nigerian national average of 18 bags per hectare. This harvest advance loan will provide Luka with cash equivalent to her maize's value at harvest. Babban Gona will then help Luka to store her maize and sell it at a higher price over the next six to nine months, guaranteeing higher returns. These higher returns are crucial for Luka as she plans on using the profit from this harvest to get better healthcare for her family.

This loan is special because:
