A loan of $675 helped purchase pig’s feet, avocados, yams, and other products.

Nestor's story

Néstor R. García is a hardworking farmer who is dedicated to growing crops and raising animals. Lately most of his income has come from selling pork and seasonal agricultural products such as corn, cassava, and yams since these items have stable demand. Néstor says that the income he earns from selling these products is used to support his family and finance the planting of his crops. He has already received two loans from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With this new loan in the amount of 1,300,000 COP, which will be his third, Néstor plans to buy pig’s feet, avocados, yams, and other products that are commonly used for family meals and can be easily sold.

Speaking of his life, Néstor says he and his wife reside in a town near Cartagena. His main challenge was raising five children during a difficult time in his community, but those events are now in the past. At the moment, his children are between the ages of 32 and 40. They are married and have their own families. His greatest wish is to keep his business growing. He plans to buy pork in large quantities and then sell his product to other businesses at a good price. In addition, he wants to move his family forward, especially the grandchildren who are under his care.
