A loan of $4,150 helped a member to buy a new fishing net and fix his fishing boat.

Mr. Nis Mang Village Bank Group's story

This village bank loan is made up of 22 villagers from Ta Reap Doun Sar village in Kandal province. Mr. Nis M. is the village bank president, who has been selected by the other members. The members will all use their loans for different purposes.

Mr. Nis M. is a fisherman. His wife, Mrs. Vannara Yoeurn, is a fish seller at her local market. Presently, Mr. Nis M. has some problems because his fishing net and fishing boat are broken. To improve this situation, Mr. Nis M. is applying for a loan to buy a new fishing net and fix his fishing boat. He is a father of four children, two of whom attend the local public school, while the others are too small to work or study.

On the day of the loan disbursement, Mr. Nis M. was busy working. His wife, Mrs. Vannara Yoeurn, received the loan for him, and the photo above shows Mr. Nis M.'s wife.
